Derrick Jackson has championship experience as a student-athlete and as a coach. He has mentored the Orange defensive line since 2007 and had additional duties as the Orange co-defensive coordinator in 2008. A four-year starter at defensive back, Jackson played for Duke’s 1989 Atlantic Coast Conference co-Championship team. As a coach he has worked with league championship teams at Northern Illinois and the State University of West Georgia.
Jackson, who was the defensive line coach at Michigan State in 2006, also has coaching experience in the National Football League. During the summer of 2002, Jackson worked with Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin, defensive line coach Rod Marinelli and linebackers coach Joe Barry in the NFL Fellowship program.
