     Derrick Jackson has championship experience as a student-athlete and as a coach. He has mentored the Orange defensive line since 2007 and had additional duties as the Orange co-defensive coordinator in 2008. A four-year starter at defensive back, Jackson played for Duke’s 1989 Atlantic Coast Conference co-Championship team. As a coach he has worked with league championship teams at Northern Illinois and the State University of West Georgia.
 
     Jackson, who was the defensive line coach at Michigan State in 2006, also has coaching experience in the National Football League. During the summer of 2002, Jackson worked with Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin, defensive line coach Rod Marinelli and linebackers coach Joe Barry in the NFL Fellowship program.

• At Syracuse, coached defensive tackle Arthur Jones, who recorded 17.5 tackles for loss, which ranked ninth nationally and third on SU’s single-season record list.

• Northern Illinois scoring defense ranked 34th nationally and second in the MA
• Eastern Illinois run defense ranked 18th nationally
• At Army, mentored Clarence Holmes, school’s single-season and career sacks leader, and Brandon Perdue, first-team CoSIDA Academic All-American
