2.3.10 | Women's Basketball

Four members of the 2010 SU women’s basketball freshman class have been nominated to participate in the 2010 McDonald’s All-American game to be played in Columbus, Ohio on March 31. The game features the top high school talent in the country playing on teams representing the East and West. 

The Orange recruits nominated for participation in the event in clued Phylesha Bullard (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills H.S.), Tiara Butler (Waldorf, Md./North Point H.S.), Rachel Coffey (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston H.S.) and LaShay Taft (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City College H.S.).

2.2.10 | Women's Basketball

Senior forward Nicole Michael became Syracuse’s all-time leading scorer as the Syracuse University women’s basketball team (17-5, 4-5) defeated the Pittsburgh Panthers (12-9, 1-7), 87-80, in overtime on Tuesday evening. Michael led the Orange with 27 points to increase her career points total to 1,614 and surpass former SU standout Julie McBride, who previously held the record with 1,605 points. Michael also led the team with 10 rebounds against the Panthers for her 27th career double-double and fifth this season.

The Syracuse University women’s basketball team (16-5, 3-5) fought off a 14-point halftime deficit and allowed only 21 second half points, but it was not enough as the Orange was defeated by No. 3/3 Notre Dame (19-1, 6-1) 74-73, on Saturday afternoon in front of 3,436 fans at the Carrier Dome. The crowd marked the sixth largest in program history.

The rv/rv Syracuse University women's basketball team (16-4, 3-4) hosts No. 3/3 Notre Dame (18-1, 5-1) on Saturday, January 30 at 1 p.m. The Orange will attempt to move to 17-4 for just the second time in its 39-year history. Tickets for Saturday's game against the Irish are available online (SUAthletics.com), by phone (1-888-DOMETIX) or in person at the Carrier Dome Box Office. Saturday's game is High School and Girl Scout Day at the Dome.
