The Syracuse women’s basketball team held Fairleigh Dickinson to 13 second-half points in its 65-45 victory in its season opener on Friday, November 13. Three Orange players scored in double figures in the win, including senior guard Nicole Michael, junior guard Erica Morrow and freshman guard Tyler Ash. Michael led the way for the Orange with 11 points and five rebounds, while Morrow and Ash each added 10 points.

The Syracuse Orange women's basketball team will open its 2009-10 campaign when it hosts Fairleigh Dickinson in the Carrier Dome on Friday, November 13 at 7 p.m. It is only the second meeting between the schools. In 1997, SU defeated the Knights, 87-64, in the Carrier Classic in Syracuse. The game can be heard live on SU's flagship station WTLA 1200/1400, or on WJPZ 89.1 FM. Live video and audio is also available on SUAthletics.com via Orange All Access.

Syracuse University head women’s basketball coach Quentin Hillsman and his wife, Shandrist Hillsman, have partnered with the Vera House to help support the families affected by domestic and sexual violence. The Hillsmans will donate $100 to Vera House every time the Orange women score 70 or more points. Syracuse averaged 71.3 points per game last season, and broke the 70-point barrier 17 times.

Syracuse women's basketball fans will get a preview of this upcoming season Tuesday night, November 10, on Z-89's women's basketball preview show. 

The one-hour segment starts at 8 p.m. and will feature head coach Quentin Hillsman's take on the Orange's strengths and weaknesses. He'll also talk about his recruiting techniques, coaching style and where the Orange stands in the BIG EAST Conference. Coach Q will also discuss some fun facts about the team and what fans can expect this season.

Senior forward Nicole Michael was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team at the conference’s annual media day for the upcoming 2009-10 season on Thursday, Oct. 22. The roster of expected top performers was released at the ESPN Zone in Times Square, and featured Michael as the lone representative from the Orange. The honors were voted upon by the coaches of the 16 teams comprising the league.
