11.16.09 | Cross Country

Sophomore Pat Dupont has played a key role on the No. 11 men’s cross country team this season, leading his squad to its first ever BIG EAST and NCAA Northeast Region titles. The Fairport, N.Y. native clocked SU’s best time of 24:51 at the BIG EAST Championship to place fourth overall. Most recently, Dupont was the first Orange runner to cross the finish line at the NCAA Northeast Regional, placing fifth with a time of 31:09. Despite being only a sophomore, Dupont has also represented Syracuse on the international level. He placed fifth at the 2009 USA Cross Country Championship, earning him an automatic bid to the 2009 IAAF World Cross Country Championship in Amman, Jordan. In Jordan, Dupont finished in front of 69 other competitors to take 48th place with a time of 25:52. His finish helped the American contingent, made up of Dupont and fellow Syracuse teammate, Tito Medrano, place fifth out of 18 countries. He is majoring in music composition at Syracuse and competes in the steeplechase for the school’s track and field team.

11.14.09 | Cross Country

The Orange cross country teams made history on Saturday winning the NCAA Northeast Regional championships. It is the first NCAA Northeast Regional title for the men or the women in school history. Junior #Katie Hursey# was the first runner to cross the finish line at the competition with a time of 21:57, becoming SU's first individual women's champion. She has clocked the team's best time in four of the past five races.

11.12.09 | Cross Country

The nationally ranked Syracuse cross country teams will compete in the NCAA Northeast Regional on Saturday, Nov. 14 hosted by Boston University. The meet will be held at the university's home course, which is situated in Boston's Franklin Park. With over 500 acres, the park is the largest of its kind in the city. The men's 10k race is set to begin at 2:30 p.m., with the women's 6k race to follow at 3:30 p.m.

11.9.09 | Cross Country

Dan Busby is a senior on the No. 11 SU men’s cross country team. The New Paltz, N.Y. native has had an outstanding career during his time wearing the orange. Most recently, Busby finished 13th overall at the BIG EAST Championship to help the men’s team win the crown for the first time in program history. Prior to the Championship, Busby had run three races this season, earning a top 10 finish in each. He clocked the team’s best time of 23:47 at the Panorama Invitational, placing fifth overall. He also placed 10th and fourth at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational and the Colgate Invitational, respectively. In 2008, Busby was named an All-Northeast selection, as well as an NCAA qualifier.

11.4.09 | Cross Country, Field Hockey

Syracuse director of athletics Dr. Daryl Gross and members of the Syracuse Athletics Department celebrated the 2009 BIG EAST men's cross country and 2009 BIG EAST regular season field hockey championship teams on Wednesday afternoon in Manley Field House. It is the first championship win for any SU cross country team, while it is the sixth conference championship victory for the field hockey program.
